Roawr.

For someone who's been painted as the 21st century Kirk by fandom, it's pretty funny that the only time John Sheppard ever got all alpha male with a woman was when he was infected by a wraith retro virus.

I honestly believe that Mallozzi was jealous and wouldn't let Sheppard be the romantic hero...since he said he had "deep-seeded (yeah, he said seeded) disdain for heroes." Sure as hell made money off of them, didn't he?

In a perfect world, the show would have stayed 100% gen, but since everyone else were happily settling down at the end of the show, I would have liked to see John finding someone too. It really came across as TPTB being spiteful.

That's why there are hardly any fics written before season 4 that I can still read today. It feels like almost all writers, whether they wrote gen, het or slash jumped on the "John is a manwhore" bandwagon.

The thing with Chaya? Not sex.
The thing with Mara? She literally threw herself on him.
Teer? He'd been alone in the cloister for months, thinking that his friends had abandoned him, and she still had to make the first move.
Larrin? Had him at her mercy. (and it wasn't like they went to a spa together... ;) ).

But since Rodney called him Kirk, that meant he had to sleep around. Obviously. :/

"Kirk my ass"

Hahahahaha

I think John was too busy with Rodney..... :)

And the script....well, you know, TV lies. :)

BTW, how can I breathe when you post SUCH pics!!!????

From The Tower:

Lt. Colonel John Sheppard: We got the drones, we got a few Jumpers. I even got the girl.
Dr. Elizabeth Weir: You got the girl?
Lt. Colonel John Sheppard: Well, I mean I could have got the girl. I turned her down.

...so, canonically, unless he way lying to Elizabeth (and why would he bother when he could just NOT BRING IT UP IN CONVERSATION instead), he turned her down. Some Kirk! Although frankly, the whole legend of the Womanizing Kirk doesn't really hold up on scrutiny.

Not just on TV...even some of the novels have Sheppard portrayed as the "Kirk" type. In "Blood Ties", a woman he once knew tells him she always felt he 'connected best with strong women'. There are a couple others (can't place them right off) where Rodney makes offhand references to things like Sheppard's 'obligatory weekly Kirk moment'.

If we could have gotten a Season Six, I would have loved to see another episode with John and Larrin. There was just something between them.

Ah yes, one of the most interesting episodes................one of the very best.
I wish there had been more like it and less like some of the others they created.
Joe was amazing in Conversion.\
Thank you for the lovely reminder.

Yes but poignant also.............e.g. when he walked into Weir's space followed by the marine and announced "look!! I made a new friend"

Your comments are all breath taking. i am spellbound once again. A daily Joe fix hurts my heart and gets my tear glands going. *sumpin in my eye*
Is it wrong to hav a grudge against a writer? I don't like to not like anyone, so there's a certain SGA writer I don't follow, don't like and try not to think about. Bad Karma.
There's lots of chatter on twitter about Joe not tweeting. Wish he would.
Thanks for the photo. It always makes my day : )
