Oh, agree with you both so much.

I've nothing useful or clever to add, other than that I find 'too perfect' bland and uninteresting, and imperfectly handsome much more compelling.

That's what I think too. That scene where they send repli!Weir to the gate is heart-wrenching, because he's completely shutting down at that point. When she was dying the first time, he got teary-eyed, but it was like he was beyond tears in season five.
