I, on the other hand, do not. That's one reason I really like his thoughts on learning a language... I wish I had. :(

My understanding is that he studied in France at one time, though for the life of me now, I can't remember what or where. At someplace prestigious, as I vaguely recall. Sadly, my brain is fried tonight. But that's a mighty fine picture (looks like it was taken with the sneaky cell phone maneuver!)

He speaks French well and pleasantly.............

My French is limited anymore as is my German, Japanese and Turkish
Recently Sandy, my sister, returned from Berlin and she said it was surprising how quickly she was able to pick it up again. She also studied Polish in Krakow at a university program during two summers and last summer some French in daily classes.
My Japanese was fluent at one time as was my Turkish........Wish now I had studied Mandarin when we were in Taiwan....seriously as I had Japanese when we lived there................
I find it fascinating to study it and then try it out. People are so forgiving.

Fairly well : his accent is quite good, and it's obvious he once spoke fluently. As he says, a couple of weeks in France would be enough for him to get it all back.

The Sorbonne is probably "the" most prestigious French university.

Frustration.....I managed to scrape the money together to see Joe in Chicago in 2009 but this year there is just not a cent left to go from Paris to Marseilles to see him!!!
